Welcoming Mateus Resende, our new Software Engineer

Resend has hired Mateus Resende, a software engineer from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, whose career began in Ruby and Ruby on Rails in 2015 and has since spanned domains including e-commerce, fintech, logistics, vehicle tracking, and email. He became interested in programming while studying electrical engineering after a snowstorm during an exchange at SUNY Buffalo led him to explore MIT OpenCourseWare coding assignments, eventually prompting a switch to computer science. Mateus joined Resend because of its remote and asynchronous culture, extensive documentation, elegant product design, and developer-focused approach. He draws inspiration from building software for users and collaborators rather than technology for its own sake, enjoys carpentry, miniature painting, chess, and travel, and particularly values 1Password and VS Code’s multi-cursor selection shortcut. His advice to ambitious engineers is to prioritize foundations such as testing, Domain-Driven Design, and evolutionary architecture over chasing new languages, tools, or LLM-driven coding trends.
