Resend acquires Mergent

Resend has acquired Mergent, a serverless background job service known for its ease of use, reliability, and high uptime, surpassing industry standards like AWS SQS. Mergent, founded by James Martinez in the Y Combinator S21 batch, has become notable for processing over 370.35 billion tasks and supporting 100 billion monthly invocations by the end of 2024. The acquisition is set to enhance Resend's infrastructure capabilities, with plans to integrate Mergent's reliability standards into Resend's services. Current Mergent users will be supported for 90 days, with the service officially sunsetting on July 28th, 2025. Users are advised to transition to alternatives such as Inngest, Google Cloud Tasks, or AWS Simple Queue Service, with Resend recommending Inngest as the most suitable replacement.
