AI in Advertising 2026
Blog post from Resemble AI
Resemble AI’s September 2026 analysis of 37,768 image and video files from 15,433 Meta ads found that 6.9% of files posted from brands’ own pages were flagged as AI-generated, while 57% of the 389 surveyed brands ran at least one AI-related ad. AI use varied by industry, reaching 13.4% of sampled brand-page files in consumer packaged goods and 12.6% in consumer electronics, compared with 2.4% in quick-service restaurants, with regulated sectors such as banking, nonprofits, and pharmaceuticals also reporting relatively low rates. Temu, Wayfair, Motel 6, and Lufthansa used AI in more than half of their sampled advertisements. Of 3,216 labeled fake files, 70% were photorealistic, and pages using brand names as bait had a much higher AI rate, with 71% of their files flagged. In betting and crypto advertising, audio detection identified 44% of fakes, largely involving voices attributed to ElevenLabs. The study also found minimal disclosure: only two of 3,379 AI files mentioned AI generation in ad copy, and none of 971 checked files, including confirmed fakes, contained C2PA provenance credentials.
