Introducing Design Mode

Replit has introduced a new Design Mode powered by the Gemini 3 model, aimed at rapidly transforming ideas into live websites. This tool allows users to create visually appealing, interactive mockups and static sites in under two minutes without the need for extensive development skills. Design Mode addresses the demand for quick visual design and iteration, offering an alternative to platforms like Wix or Squarespace. It facilitates two primary use cases: visual design and rapid prototyping, and the creation of simple, beautiful websites, with the capability to transition designs into full applications by adding backend functionality. This innovation is particularly beneficial for teams looking to iterate on visuals without the delay of engineering, enabling a seamless flow from idea to prototype to product. The project was led by Vaibhav Kumar, with contributions from Stanley Huang, Samuel Spitz, and other team members, resulting in a successful public launch and significant user engagement.
