Announcing: New Registry UX and Test Workflows
Blog post from Replicated
Replicated has announced updates to its Proxy Registry, a tool that enables vendors to securely distribute application images to end customers without managing multiple credentials or image locations. The Proxy Registry acts as an "Authenticating Mirror," validating customer licenses and replacing HTTP Authentication headers with vendor-configured credentials, facilitating seamless access to stored images. New features include direct testing of configured registries within the vendor portal, simplifying the feedback loop and error identification process, which previously required extensive steps. This update also provides guided onboarding for various registry types, offering clear instructions for integrating popular services like AWS ECR, Google GCR, and GitHub GHCR. Additionally, users can now leverage the CLI for image testing during development workflows, enhancing the reliability of image pulls in CI/CD environments. These enhancements aim to streamline the configuration process and ensure that application images are accessible and secure for end users, with further improvements, such as registry usage monitoring, on the horizon.
