Summary

Render has launched a Private Beta feature called Build Reuse, enabling customers to create one immutable build artifact from a specified repository, branch, and build command and deploy it across multiple linked services and environments without rebuilding identical code. The feature is intended for workflows such as deploying shared repository code to web services and workers, managing monorepos, or promoting verified builds from development and staging to production, reducing build time, compute costs, and configuration drift. Build-time and runtime variables are separately scoped, preventing runtime secrets from being available during builds unless explicitly provided. During the beta, Build Reuse supports web services, private services, and background workers, with management available through the REST API, Blueprints, and Render Dashboard; planned additions include cron job, CLI, Terraform, and expanded Dashboard support. Access is limited and requires submitting a request, with selected participants collaborating with Render’s engineering team and providing feedback before general availability.
