Announcing Point-in-Time Recovery

Render has introduced a new feature called Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) for its PostgreSQL service, aimed at enhancing data security and reliability for developers. This feature allows continuous archiving of database data, enabling users to restore a database to a state prior to unexpected data loss within a seven-day window. The restoration process involves creating a new database from archived data, providing an opportunity to test and modify configurations before going live. This can include changing instance types or updating API keys, and the transition is facilitated by copying the IP address allow list. PITR is accessible on Team, Enterprise, and Organization plans for Pro database instances and above, and enabling it may necessitate a brief maintenance period for databases created before April 2023. Render continues to focus on removing infrastructure challenges for developers, allowing them to concentrate on product development and customer satisfaction.
