Building safe, multi-agent AI systems in Redpanda Agentic Data Plane

Redpanda's evolution of its AI-driven customer experience platform, Redleader, began in mid-2025 with the implementation of a single prompt-driven agent across Slack channels, which successfully demonstrated AI's potential in automating triage and generating ROI. As adoption increased, a need for more structured control led to the development of a multi-agent system called the Redleader, running on Redpanda’s Agentic Data Plane (ADP), which allows multiple specialized agents to collaborate effectively. The ADP functions as a substrate, integrating components like the Redpanda Streaming engine and Redpanda Connect to orchestrate agent communication and learning, ensuring continuous event streams that represent intent, action, and reaction. This transformation from a single agent to a coordinated ecosystem enhances the capacity to track, trust, and improve AI operations within an enterprise environment.
