Build your first (reusable) agent
Blog post from Redpanda
Redpanda’s Agentic Data Plane is presented as a governance layer for building reusable AI agents that can securely access enterprise systems without duplicating integrations, credentials, policies, or audit processes across teams. The example begins with an IT Assist Agent that handles ServiceNow incidents, catalog requests, and knowledge searches through managed MCP servers, user-based authorization, tool-level access policies, and centrally stored credentials. Other teams can reuse this agent through Agent2Agent communication and published agent cards, as shown by an onboarding assistant that combines Workday, SharePoint, and the existing IT capabilities while preserving identity, approvals, privacy controls, and event-driven workflows. A headless operations triage agent similarly processes monitoring alerts, consults documentation, and opens ServiceNow incidents using restricted service identities. The platform emphasizes centralized ownership, GitOps-based changes, per-agent budgets, conversation retention options, and end-to-end observability through transcripts and OpenTelemetry traces stored on an immutable log, enabling teams to trace automated actions, avoid duplicate requests, allocate costs, and support compliance requirements.
