The Redis community recently released the first release candidate of version 4, which includes a new modules API that allows developers to create custom modules for Redis. The community also hosted a Redis Modules Hackathon, where participants were invited to submit their own module ideas and compete for prizes. A panel of five judges evaluated the submissions based on originality, impact, potential, design, and quality. After tallying the scores, the top three winners were announced: Brandur Leach for his redis-cell rate limiter module, Noam Sagi for his RedisModuleTimeSeries time series data module, and Roi Lipman for his Redis Graph module. The community also recognized several other notable submissions, including Nick Chadwick's Redis Zstandard Compressed Values module and Doron Sadeh's Pyrecks Python kernel execution module. The event was a success, thanks to the hard work of developer teams, the HackerEarth staff, and the Redis team.
