AWS and Red5 Partner to Bring the Metaverse to Life on 5G
Blog post from Red5
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Red5 Pro have partnered to deliver ultra-low-latency, real-time video experiences on 5G networks through AWS Wavelength and Red5’s Experience Delivery Network (XDN). This collaboration aims to enhance immersive applications like extended reality (XR) and Metaverse experiences, especially on early-stage 5G deployments. By leveraging Wavelength Zones, where AWS compute and storage services integrate with telecom carrier data centers, the partnership enables end-to-end latencies below 50ms, crucial for interactive applications such as virtual reality, multiplayer gaming, and remote healthcare. The integration supports a wide range of cloud services and streaming protocols, facilitating scalable and reliable real-time video communications. This initiative addresses challenges faced by 5G Non-Standalone Architecture (NSA) and helps mobile network operators make a stronger case for 5G Standalone Architecture (SA), potentially accelerating consumer adoption of 5G technologies.
