From IDE to AI: How ReadMe bridges APIs to LLMs with MCP
Blog post from ReadMe
ReadMe has introduced support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an Anthropic-created standard that connects AI agents with APIs, documentation, tools, and data sources so models can both understand information and perform actions through function calling. Every ReadMe project can now provide an MCP server by enabling the feature, allowing developers to connect AI assistants directly to current API documentation and use it as a source of truth from code editors rather than switching between documentation, IDEs, and testing tools. ReadMe also offers its own MCP server for managing documentation through its API, including identifying low-performing pages with Metrics API data, generating improvement suggestions based on successful content, and editing pages from tools such as Cursor, VS Code, Claude, Windsurf, and Gemini CLI.
