Summary

Raycast is shifting its AI pricing from rate-limited subscriptions to usage-based AI Credits while retaining existing subscription prices and adding a $50-per-month Max plan for heavier use. The change reflects the higher and less predictable costs of AI agents that can use extensions, write and execute code, retry failed approaches, and complete multistep tasks, with subscriptions now covering Raycast’s interface and Pro features while model usage is charged separately. Pro remains $10 monthly with 500 credits, Pro+ replaces Advanced AI at $20 with 3,000 credits, and Max includes 7,500 credits, while existing subscribers receive a bonus month of credits during the transition. Paid subscribers can also connect Claude or ChatGPT accounts, as well as API keys, custom providers, or local models, to use external model access within Raycast. The new model supports features including scheduled Automations that run AI prompts in the background and Projects, which organize related chats, memories, files, and working directories for ongoing tasks.
