Raycast for Windows
Blog post from Raycast
Raycast, a productivity tool previously popular among Mac users, is now available as a public beta for Windows, offering a seamless experience with familiar keyboard shortcuts and a design that integrates smoothly with the Windows environment. The software introduces a custom-built file search indexer to overcome Windows' lack of a system-wide index, providing instant search results alongside an extensive extension platform that allows users to manage tasks such as controlling smart home devices, translating text, and handling GitHub pull requests directly from the interface. With thousands of extensions in its ecosystem and compatibility across both Mac and Windows, Raycast encourages developers to create new extensions using React and TypeScript. The public beta also features Quick AI, powered by OpenAI's GPT-5 mini, for immediate answers to a wide range of questions. While not all Pro features are yet available on Windows, the Raycast team plans to add AI Chat, Notes, and other functionalities in future updates, driven by feedback from a large community of beta testers who continue to support its development.
