Railway introduces dev.new, an agent-driven environment where users can describe an application idea, have the Railway Agent build it in a persistent virtual machine, preview and refine the result, and deploy it directly as a Railway service. As a demonstration, the agent created and deployed a browser-based real-time multiplayer first-person shooter in roughly 20 minutes from a single prompt, including generated assets, room codes, WebSocket-based multiplayer state, combat, death, and respawning. Each project begins with a Vite, React, Tailwind, and TypeScript template running in a persistent `/app` workspace, while the agent can edit code, run commands, inspect logs, use Playwright for browser testing, and deploy through Railway’s `ship` tool. The platform supports targeted visual edits by letting users select preview elements for agent context, and deployed projects remain standard Railway projects that can later gain databases, environment variables, custom domains, and other production infrastructure.
