Ragie, a new AI company co-founded by Bob Remeika and Mohammed Rafiq, has launched with $5.5 million in seed funding from notable investors like Craft Ventures, Valor, Saga VC, and Chapter One. Ragie aims to simplify the development of AI applications using a technique called Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), which enhances AI-generated content by leveraging a company's own data. Traditionally, implementing RAG is cumbersome, involving the connection and synchronization of multiple data sources and the creation of scalable data processing pipelines. Ragie addresses these challenges by offering a fully managed RAG-as-a-Service platform, originally developed for David Sacks's chat application, Glue. It provides a robust data ingest pipeline and retrieval API, allowing developers to connect with platforms like Google Drive, Notion, and Confluence. Advanced features include "Summary Index" and "Entity Extraction," and the service offers a tiered pricing model, with a free tier for initial development and a promotional offer of a free month of the Pro plan.
