How to migrate your PostHog self-hosted to PostHog Cloud
Blog post from Qovery
After using a self-hosted version of PostHog for eight months, Qovery decided to transition to PostHog Cloud to better support the project they admire and to focus more on their core business rather than maintenance tasks. The move required developing a Python script to migrate over a million events from the self-hosted instance to the cloud, as no official migration guide was available. The script utilized simple HTTP requests to fetch and send event data, ensuring compatibility with Python 3.6+. During the migration, Qovery informed PostHog's support team to ensure any necessary infrastructure adjustments. The transition was successful and completed within a day, allowing Qovery to benefit from the speed and efficiency of PostHog Cloud.
