Jev is now available in Pydantic AI Gateway
Blog post from Pydantic
Pydantic AI Gateway now supports Jev, TypeSafe’s classification model, allowing applications to use a single gateway key while tracking Jev alongside language models for spending, limits, and guardrails. Rather than generating chat responses, Jev evaluates supplied text against typed questions and returns answers with probabilities, making it suitable for classification and evaluation tasks at a stated cost of $0.042 per million input tokens. Users configure TypeSafe as a bring-your-own-key provider in Pydantic Logfire, then call Jev through its native System One API using either HTTP requests or the TypeSafe Python SDK with the Gateway URL. Gateway processing adds centralized metering, usage controls, and input guardrails covering the evaluated text, instructions, and criteria without changing Jev’s pricing or response speed. Pydantic AI also supports Jev through TypeSafeModel, where fields in a Pydantic output schema become classification questions, enabling structured tasks such as routing support tickets by urgency and category.
