PyBites, in collaboration with Python Alicante, organized a special live coding challenge on July 18, 2019, at the University of Alicante, encouraging participants to analyze the trend of female speakers at PyCon ES events from 2013 to 2018 using Python. The challenge involved scraping speaker data from PyCon ES sites and determining the gender of each speaker, with bonus tasks comparing the data to PyCon US/EU and visualizing trends. Participants were encouraged to submit their solutions by July 19 for a chance to win prizes, while emphasizing learning and improving Python skills over finding the best solution. PyBites promotes frequent coding practice through their 200 Bites of Py exercises, aiming to enhance Python proficiency and problem-solving skills, with the goal of helping users secure high-paying Python jobs. They offer a supportive community for mentoring and sharing experiences, and encourage users to participate in future challenges and contribute ideas.
