Pulumi EKS v3 introduces significant enhancements to improve flexibility, security, and usability for managing Kubernetes clusters on AWS. This release addresses the deprecation of the aws-auth ConfigMap and Amazon Linux 2 (AL2) by supporting Amazon Linux 2023 and Bottlerocket operating systems, enabling users to select the OS that aligns with their workloads and compliance needs. It introduces Access Entries for IAM integration, replacing the deprecated aws-auth ConfigMap, and configures EKS cluster components such as vpc-cni, coredns, and kube-proxy as managed addons, simplifying management and ensuring automatic updates. The version also integrates better with the Kubernetes Cluster Autoscaler and adds support for EKS security groups for pods and network policies, offering enhanced network security and control. A migration guide is provided to assist users in transitioning smoothly to EKS v3 by updating configurations and handling new output types, ensuring a seamless upgrade to take advantage of these new features.
