PubNub has announced that support for its Chat Components will end on January 1, 2025, though they will remain open-source and community-maintained without further feature updates from the company. These React Native Chat Components are designed to integrate with existing tech stacks, offering customizable chat functionalities and appearances through options like various component choices, theme overrides, custom renderers, and hooks. They provide five drop-in UI components for chat, including message input, message list, channels list, members list, and typing indicator, while supporting features such as message persistence, typing indicators, file sharing, and online/offline presence. The platform aims to expedite app development, allowing businesses to create feature-rich chat experiences efficiently, supported by PubNub's global presence to mitigate latency and outage concerns. Additionally, it offers the flexibility to implement real-time capabilities beyond chat, such as push notifications and data streaming, thereby reducing development and maintenance costs compared to in-house solutions.
