Release Week: Improved Developer Tools
Blog post from Prismic
During Prismic's inaugural Release Week, the company introduced a suite of new developer tools designed to enhance coding efficiency, reduce bugs, and improve site performance. Key announcements included enhancements to TypeScript tooling with the prismic-ts-codegen CLI tool for automatic type generation, which benefits both TypeScript and JavaScript projects, and an updated Prismic Client for better data handling through automatic types. Improvements were also made to image handling in Next.js, integrating Prismic's imgix capabilities with the Next.js image component, through the new <PrismicNextImage> component. Additionally, Prismic released a set of coding snippets compatible with various IDEs, designed to speed up development in React, Vue, JavaScript, and TypeScript, and open-sourced a tool named Schnipsel for converting Markdown into IDE-specific snippets. A live demo was scheduled to showcase these tools in action, and further announcements were planned throughout the week, highlighting Prismic's ongoing commitment to enhancing its community and educational offerings, as well as supporting freelancers and agencies.
