@prismicio/client v7: Our New, Unified, Core Library

Prismic has released a new major version of its core package, @prismicio/client v7, which consolidates the functionalities of three previous packages—@prismicio/client, @prismicio/helpers, and @prismicio/types—into a single, streamlined package for querying and templating Prismic data with JavaScript. This update simplifies the development process by reducing confusion over imports and offering a leaner API, although it introduces some breaking changes by removing deprecated APIs. The migration to the new version is facilitated by a comprehensive guide, and the update includes new helpers for data manipulation, faster query capabilities through request deduplication, and enhanced control via a new fetchOptions feature. The release aims to make Prismic more intuitive by renaming some concepts, such as changing "predicates" to "filters" and "HTML Serializer" to "rich text serializer." While the previous packages will still be maintained for a year, users are encouraged to transition to @prismicio/client v7 to benefit from ongoing feature development and community support.
