Postman's latest release introduces support for importing OpenAPI 3.0 specifications, enhancing its flexibility and integration within the API development workflow. This update, available to all users running version 6.6, allows API developers to import specifications via file, URL, or raw text in JSON or YAML formats, with endpoints organized as folders and subfolders complete with descriptions and documentation. The OpenAPI Specification, previously known as Swagger, is a widely used API description format that facilitates quick validation, auto-generation of documentation and client libraries, and more, thanks to its standardized and both human and machine-readable nature. This integration enables users to leverage the combined capabilities of OpenAPI and Postman Collections, and Postman plans to continue expanding support for additional formats and features in the future.
