Postman Product Updates: April 2025
Blog post from Postman
Spec Hub and types in collections are new features introduced by Postman to streamline API development by eliminating disconnected workflows and enhancing data type consistency. Spec Hub allows developers to design, test, and document APIs within a single platform, supporting OpenAPI 3.0 and AsyncAPI 2.0 with Spectral linting and autocomplete, thereby reducing version control confusion and manual syncing. This integration ensures that changes in specifications are automatically reflected in documentation, tests, and mock servers, enhancing productivity by focusing on innovation rather than overhead tasks. Types in collections bring type validation directly into the collections, enabling schema validation and intelligent request-building features like auto-completion, which reduces errors and improves the developer experience. These functionalities are built into all Postman plans, offering type safety and validation whether developers begin with a formal specification or start building directly in collections. Additionally, Postman's security enhancements, such as Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) encryption, allow organizations to maintain control over their encryption keys while developers continue using their preferred tools, balancing security with usability.
