Announcing automatic removal of secrets on the Postman API Network

Postman has significantly expanded its API Network to over 100,000 APIs, making it the world's largest public API hub, and has introduced new measures to enhance security, particularly for public APIs. Recognizing the responsibility to protect user secrets, Postman launched Guided Auth at POST/CON 24, offering a secure, one-click authentication flow to protect sensitive information in the Postman Vault. To further safeguard user data, Postman began scanning public content for sensitive information in June 2024 and automatically replacing detected secrets with placeholder values to prevent exposure without removing workspaces. This policy aims to uphold API security and reliability by allowing workspace owners to proactively manage their exposed secrets, with team admins receiving notifications to address and prevent future occurrences. Postman remains committed to supporting users during this transition and is focused on creating a secure environment for both API publishers and consumers.
