Adding a New Service with the Context Graph and Claude Code
Blog post from Postman
Postman’s Context Graph and its Claude Code plugin are presented as a way to streamline the difficult task of adding interconnected services by mapping API dependencies across repositories, schemas, consumers, deployments, and runtime relationships. In a healthcare gateway example, Claude used the graph’s API-discovery capability to identify downstream dependencies before creating a case-management service, its schema, collection, and contract-focused tests. The plugin then supported the broader API lifecycle by generating a standards-compliant collection, using Vault Integrations to keep credentials out of repositories, validating the contract with a mock server, adding tests to GitHub Actions, and creating scheduled production monitoring. The approach aims to address AI agents’ reduced accuracy when retrieving relevant information from large, scattered codebases by supplying an explicit, current dependency map, though its usefulness depends on organizations first publishing their collections and specifications to the shared workspace.
