Why we raised a $15m Series B ahead of schedule
Blog post from PostHog
PostHog recently secured $15 million in a Series B funding round, with backing from Y Combinator Continuity Fund and GV, despite not originally planning to raise funds at this stage. The unexpected decision to raise capital was driven by significant platform improvements, such as integrating ClickHouse and offering more free events on PostHog Cloud, which led to a surge in demand and an opportunity to address capacity constraints. The funds will be used to accelerate growth by expanding the team size, with plans to double it to 47 by the end of the year and again in 2022, as well as enhancing connectivity with data warehouses and integrating improvements from PostHog Free into their open-source product. The company aims to develop a scalable and free open-source tool catering to both individual hobbyists and enterprise teams. PostHog expressed gratitude to its users and contributors for their support and encouraged people interested in their future plans to explore their roadmap.
