We're building a better PostHog community by closing our public Slack

PostHog, an open-source project, is transitioning from its public Slack group to a dedicated community forum hosted on its site, which they see as a more scalable and helpful platform for community interaction. This decision comes after realizing that Slack's limitations, such as disappearing messages and lack of searchability, were hindering effective communication and support as their community rapidly grew to over 5,000 members. The new forum, built using Strapi as a headless CMS, offers a permanent, searchable repository of questions and answers integrated with PostHog's main support flow, and allows for better engagement through features like sortable categories, profile achievements, and the option to conduct AMAs. The Slack group will be archived on January 12, 2024, and closed on January 22, 2024, while private channels for paying users and GitHub repositories will continue to function as usual. The community is encouraged to join the new forum, and those transitioning from Slack will receive a unique achievement for their support.
