PostHog raises $15 million Series B for open source product analytics
Blog post from PostHog
PostHog, an open-source product analytics company, has announced a $15 million Series B funding round led by Y Combinator's Continuity Fund, with participation from GV, bringing its total funding to over $27 million. The investment will be used to enhance PostHog's self-hosted deployment capabilities, improve data warehouse integration, and expand user experience, marketing, and customer success. Co-founders James Hawkins and Tim Glaser emphasize the developer-led approach to product analytics, allowing developers to track user behavior and product usage without external data transfer, thus eliminating vendor lock-in. PostHog's platform, which supports teams from startups to large enterprises, offers features such as auto-capturing events, product analytics, dashboarding, video replays, and feature flags, all within an open-source framework. The company has seen significant community growth, with hundreds of weekly installations and over 150 external contributors. The transparency and developer focus have fostered a large community and increased demand for their products. Additionally, Ali Rowghani from YC Continuity has joined the PostHog board, and the company plans to use the funding to attract top talent to further accelerate its growth.
