How every team can build in Port, at scale
Blog post from Port
Port introduces fine-grained building permissions and environment management intended to let individual teams own workflows, scorecards, integrations, AI resources, and other parts of an agentic software development lifecycle without granting broad platform access or creating production risk. Resources are modeled as catalog blueprints and entities, allowing role-, team-, user-, property-, and context-based policies that can restrict actions such as creating, editing, executing, or approving changes based on ownership, seniority, or temporary on-call status. Permission simulation and view-as features provide visibility into access decisions, while consistent enforcement across the UI, API, and MCP aims to apply the same controls to people and agents. Changes can be managed as infrastructure as code through Terraform, Pulumi, APIs, and GitOps pipelines, with development, staging, review, approval, promotion, and audit processes designed to separate team ownership from central platform governance. Examples include SRE-owned incident workflows used by product teams, independently managed security and readiness scorecards, and AI-assisted creation of blueprints and policies through Port AI Builder.
