PagerDuty’s Slack App Just Got a Whole Lot Better (And We’re Just Getting Started)
Blog post from PagerDuty
PagerDuty is evolving its Slack app from a simple notification tool into a comprehensive incident management command center, aiming to compete with chat-native tools by providing a more integrated platform for incident response. The updated app streamlines incident communication with features like cleaner incident cards, threaded activity updates, and improved slash commands, enhancing the user experience. Last year, PagerDuty focused on integrating AI into the incident lifecycle, introducing AI agents like Scribe Agent, Shift Agent, Insights Agent, and SRE Agent to automate tasks, provide real-time diagnostics, and optimize on-call schedules. These enhancements allow the app to manage the entire incident response ecosystem, incorporating monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and on-call schedules into a cohesive workflow. Moving forward, PagerDuty plans to expand its functionality with threaded slash commands, enhanced on-call features, and an improved admin dashboard, emphasizing the platform's ability to grow with complex operational needs while maintaining a robust chat experience.
