PagerDuty Responds to the Climate Imperative By Addressing Injustice With New Philanthropic Partners
Blog post from PagerDuty
PagerDuty.org Fund was launched two years ago to address Time-Critical Health with a mission to save lives by reaching people faster, but its scope has expanded to combat systemic discrimination in public health, climate change, and environmental justice. In response to exacerbated structural inequities highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic and racial injustice, PagerDuty deployed $1,000,000 in 2021 to support vaccine distribution in marginalized communities globally. Recognizing the disproportionate impact of climate change and pollution on communities of color, PagerDuty also supports BIPOC-led organizations like Earth Guardians, Earth Hacks, OpenAQ, and The Solutions Project with $250,000 in unrestricted funding to advance environmental and climate justice. These initiatives aim to foster equitable solutions through youth empowerment, open data access, and grassroots movements, reflecting a commitment to a socially just approach that includes meaningful involvement from those most affected by environmental and health challenges. The fund's strategy is informed by insights from partners and PagerDuty employees, emphasizing collaboration and flexibility in funding to address systemic inequities effectively.
