New Research by IDC, Sponsored by PagerDuty, Explores How Organizations Can Reach CloudOps Maturity

As organizations increasingly migrate to cloud infrastructures, many face challenges in fully realizing the potential benefits due to the complexity and new interdependencies introduced by cloud services. Cloud operations (CloudOps), defined by IDC as the internal systems and methods used to monitor and manage cloud infrastructure, is essential for maintaining service reliability. A study by IDC, commissioned by PagerDuty, explores the maturity levels of CloudOps across organizations, identifying four phases: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert, each characterized by varying degrees of integration with AI/ML tools, team collaboration, and operational efficiency. Achieving Expert status can take several years, but organizations can expedite their progress by adopting hybrid approaches, driving cultural changes from leadership, and implementing full-service ownership. This journey, although complex, promises significant long-term benefits in agility, cost efficiency, and service innovation.
