Centering Partnerships in Trust and Full-Spectrum Support: A Story from Code the Dream

PagerDuty, through its social impact arm PagerDuty.org, has partnered with Code the Dream to support diverse talent entering the tech industry by providing training, apprenticeships, and mentorship. Code the Dream focuses on recruiting individuals from low-income and diverse backgrounds, equipping them with skills to build mobile and web apps, and offering paid apprenticeships that facilitate tech careers. The partnership began with a grant to scale the Vamos Outreach app, aiding migrant and seasonal farmworkers in accessing COVID-19 vaccines and information. Beyond financial support, PagerDuty employees volunteer as mentors, offering career advice and helping enhance the Vamos app, thereby fostering a symbiotic relationship where both students and employees benefit. This collaboration, which has expanded from an initial focus on vaccine equity to a broader partnership, aims to diversify the tech industry and empower underrepresented communities.
