6 Steps to Increase DevOps Velocity
Blog post from PagerDuty
Organizations are increasingly adopting DevOps to enhance release velocity, developmental agility, and innovation, but successful implementation requires more than just transitioning to a new methodology. A DevOps model emphasizes communication, collaboration, and blameless retrospectives, which can streamline processes and address bottlenecks. One major challenge is identifying and eliminating existing workflow constraints, which can impede progress. Gartner outlines six steps for increasing DevOps velocity by removing such constraints, beginning with defining the process and identifying the greatest constraint, followed by removing waste, avoiding the neglect of constraints, adding capacity, and continuously identifying new constraints. These steps aim to improve throughput and ensure high development cadence, ultimately leading to more efficient and productive DevOps practices.
