Mind the Gap
Blog post from Ory
Vulnerability discovery and CVE disclosures are reportedly accelerating sharply in 2026, overwhelming many security teams and bug bounty programs and creating what the author characterizes as a “cliff” rather than a manageable increase. Ory argues that constant internal scanning, including use of non-public preview cybersecurity models, can identify flaws before public disclosure and has widened the security difference between open-source software releases and commercially supported versions. The discussion also links this challenge to limited organizational visibility over AI tools and risks, citing an EY survey in which many senior leaders lacked complete awareness of deployed AI systems and some organizations had experienced materially harmful AI incidents. Organizations are encouraged to identify open-source production workloads, determine who scans their code and how frequently, and assess whether their security practices can keep pace with increasingly automated vulnerability discovery.
