OpenMeter is Joining Kong

OpenMeter is joining Kong Inc. to enhance AI monetization and flexible billing while maintaining its services on OpenMeter Cloud for existing and new customers. Kong offers a unified API connectivity platform, enabling organizations to monetize APIs, AI, and data streams by integrating metering, entitlements, and billing at the API layer. OpenMeter, built as an open-source project, aligns with Kong's open-source philosophy, allowing them to retain their modular product approach. The integration with Kong will bring new capabilities and support to OpenMeter while ensuring the service remains open-source, with planned enhancements like faster development, expanded cloud regions, and new compliance certifications. Current OpenMeter customers will see no immediate changes to their accounts or pricing plans, and the existing team will continue to provide support during the transition to Kong Konnect, expected to be completed by early 2026.
