Octopus has undergone significant growth and change, expanding to over 300 employees across 17 countries, which has highlighted the need for a unified leadership approach to maintain its culture and values. This led to the creation of the Leadership CODE, a set of guiding principles designed to align leaders on core leadership traits such as humility, trust, and clear communication, while empowering them to focus on people and organizational goals. The process involved gathering insights from the organization to develop a shared leadership language that promotes consistency and collaboration. The CODE is built around five principles: Be humble and stay curious, Level up the team, Communicate directly, and with anyone, Aim for the greater good, and Make it happen. These principles are meant to guide leaders in making thoughtful decisions and building a supportive work environment, with an emphasis on practical application rather than rigid rules. The introduction of the CODE marks the beginning of ongoing efforts to integrate these principles into leadership practices, including mentorship and feedback, to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
