Octopus Deploy acquires Dist
Blog post from Octopus Deploy
Octopus Deploy announced its acquisition of Dist, a cloud-based container registry and artifact repository service, to enhance its deployment capabilities and support for container images. Dist, founded by Yun Huang Yong and Stephen Haynes, offers reliable and user-friendly artifact repositories, aligning well with Octopus's mission to streamline repeatable and traceable deployments across cloud and on-premises environments. While Octopus Deploy traditionally included a built-in artifact repository, it lacked native support for container images, necessitating third-party solutions like Azure or AWS registries. The integration of Dist's technology is expected to provide low-latency, secure access and better retention policy management within Octopus, reducing the need for additional services. This acquisition signifies Octopus's strategic shift towards integrating external expertise to accelerate growth and improve service offerings, with Paul Stovell, the founder and CEO, expressing enthusiasm for future collaborations with the Dist team.
