More control over Deployment Freezes: Recurring freezes and freeze by tenant
Blog post from Octopus Deploy
The updated Deployment Freeze feature in Octopus now includes two new capabilities, allowing users to set specific windows for blocking deployments and to prevent deployments to specific tenants without affecting the entire project. Aimed at maintaining system stability during critical times such as holidays or business peak periods, these features are currently available to Cloud customers and will be released to self-hosted customers in the 2025.1 update. Users can now create immediate or scheduled deployment freezes, customize them by project or tenant, and even set up recurring freezes to match maintenance schedules. During a freeze, existing deployments continue, but new deployments require an override reason, and scheduled deployments won't execute unless they are target-triggered automatic deployments. The feature also includes override capabilities for authorized users, with all activities recorded in an audit trail. Automation integration is possible via the Octopus REST API and Terraform provider, enhancing CI/CD pipeline management and ensuring agile, yet stable, deployment practices.
