Live updates of Kubernetes objects during deployment
Blog post from Octopus Deploy
Kubernetes Object Status is a new feature designed to provide live status updates during the deployment process of Kubernetes objects, enhancing visibility and error detection. This feature is integrated into the Octopus deployment process and allows users to monitor the status of their Kubernetes deployments directly through a new tab that shows the object status updates. Deployments require a registered Kubernetes cluster and a project setup that supports object status checks, although some limitations exist, such as lack of support for Helm chart upgrades and blue/green strategy deployments. Users can configure options like step timeout and job completion wait times to tailor the feature's operations to their needs. While the feature offers significant benefits for real-time monitoring and assurance of deployment success, it currently does not track post-deployment updates to resources, and certain functionalities are still under development. Octopus encourages feedback on this feature as they continue to improve it, and interested users can access the early access preview.
