Introducing Starter Policies in Platform Hub
Blog post from Octopus Deploy
Octopus has introduced Starter Policies to simplify the use of Rego, the language of the Open Policy Agent (OPA), for defining and enforcing compliance in software deployments, available through the Enterprise tier's Platform Hub. The guided setup process allows users to select from a library of common compliance use cases, generating boilerplate code that can be customized to fit specific team needs. These policies ensure governance, such as requiring manual approval for production deployments, and provide inline comments for better understanding of the Rego logic, helping teams to learn by doing. The Platform Hub serves as the centralized location for managing software delivery, insights, and governance, with all policy evaluations and outcomes being recorded in an audit log. Violation actions can be configured to either block non-compliant actions or allow them with a warning, depending on the team's compliance requirements.
