Introducing Config as Code for Runbooks

Configuration as Code for Runbooks is being introduced to Octopus Cloud customers, addressing a highly requested feature that allows runbooks to benefit from version control, similar to deployment processes. This feature enables users to track runbook processes in a Git repository alongside application code and deployment files, enhancing synchronization and version history accessibility. With this update, users can make and test runbook changes on branches without affecting team operations, eliminating the need for separate published and draft versions. Runbook permissions remain consistent, with Runbook Producers able to run any version and Runbook Consumers limited to the latest default branch version. The rollout to Cloud customers is imminent, with a self-hosted release forthcoming, and a simple migration tool will facilitate the transition to this new system.
