Introducing Buildkite integration
Blog post from Octopus Deploy
Octopus Deploy has introduced new Buildkite plugins that enable users to integrate Octopus Deploy's features into Buildkite's Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines, enhancing build and deployment processes. Buildkite, known for running CI pipelines on user infrastructure with speed, security, and scalability, operates through agents that execute workflows defined in YAML and are extensible via plugins. The new plugins allow users to create releases, push build information, and run runbooks within Buildkite, with the requirement of having the Octopus CLI installed on the Buildkite agent. These plugins facilitate various operations, such as creating a snapshot of deployment processes, associating build information with packages, and automating routine tasks through runbooks. This integration represents the initial phase of plugin development, with plans for further enhancements and the potential removal of Octopus CLI dependency, suggesting that users of both platforms consider incorporating each other's capabilities into their CI/CD pipelines.
