Deprecations coming in 2025

Octopus Server 2025.1 introduces several significant changes aimed at enhancing predictability and platform support, including updates to deprecate older platforms and bundled tools, impacting users who rely on legacy systems. The platform support policy will now align with the underlying tooling and vendor-supported systems, with a move from .NET 6 to .NET 8 potentially affecting older Linux distributions. Windows Server 2008 will no longer be supported due to its outdated status and lack of .NET Core support. The change also involves the removal of bundled Azure, AWS, and Terraform CLI tools, requiring users to pre-install necessary tools on targets or use execution containers. Helm v2 support will be discontinued, necessitating a transition to Helm v3, and Azure Resource Manager PowerShell modules will be replaced with more current alternatives.
