From Bootstrapped to Venture-Backed: Nx Raises $8.6M
Blog post from Nx
Nx has announced its first round of outside financing, raising $8.6 million in a seed round led by Nexus Venture Partners and Andreessen Horowitz, along with several angel investors. This funding will enable Nx to expand its open-source toolkit, Nx Cloud, and Nx Enterprise products, which are designed to help development teams work more efficiently, particularly through monorepo-style development. Since its inception in 2017, Nx has grown significantly, with over 12 million monthly npm downloads and more than 100,000 connected Nx Workspaces. Key innovations include Distributed Task Execution and Distributed Caching, which have saved significant compute time for users. The company originally chose not to raise funding to focus on finding the right business model, but the rapid growth of Nx Cloud and Nx Enterprise prompted the decision to partner with investors, who bring expertise in developer tooling and enterprise infrastructure. The new capital will allow Nx to increase research and development efforts, aiming to introduce more industry-changing products and features while collaborating closely with customers.
