Powerful Rate Limiting is now available on the Nhost Platform

Nhost has introduced a rate limiting feature on its platform to enhance security and optimize performance by restricting the number of requests a client can make to APIs within a specific time frame. This measure helps mitigate unauthorized access, prevent denial of service attacks, and manage resource consumption effectively. The system allows a set number of requests within a time limit, with additional requests permitted at intervals once the limit is reached. Different services such as GraphQL, Storage, and Functions have independent rate limits based on client IPs, ensuring requests to one service don't affect another. The Auth service has more complex rules due to the sensitivity of various endpoints, with specific limits for email, SMS, and brute-force-sensitive actions. Users can configure these limits via the Nhost Dashboard or a configuration file, with detailed options available in the documentation. The implementation of rate limiting is expected to provide better protection, improved performance, and increased stability for users' projects, reflecting Nhost's ongoing commitment to platform enhancement and customer support.
