Nhost Autoscaler: a powerful new addition to the Nhost platform

Nhost has introduced the Nhost Autoscaler, a tool currently in private beta, designed to enhance deployment flexibility, scalability, and cost efficiency for applications. This blog post details the tool's progress and compares different resource configurations across varying load scenarios using a scripted benchmarking process. Initial tests with no dedicated resources revealed performance throttling due to shared compute, while dedicated resources allowed for nearly double the request capacity and more predictable performance. Increasing the worker count further amplified the request handling capacity but reintroduced performance spikes when resources were unavailable. Enabling the autoscaler with 40 workers demonstrated a more stable system, as it dynamically provisioned additional replicas, resulting in increased request throughput and stabilized response times. Tests with 80 workers showed that while peak requests per second doubled, the system took longer to stabilize. Overall, the autoscaler simplifies infrastructure scaling, allowing for automatic resource management and reducing the need for overprovisioning, ultimately saving costs and alleviating operational burdens.
