High Availability and Fault Tolerance with Service Replicas

Service Replicas, a new feature on the Nhost Platform, enhances high availability and fault tolerance by allowing multiple concurrent instances of services like Hasura, Auth, and Storage to be deployed across different machines, thereby improving the performance and reliability of Nhost projects. Users can manage these replicas through an intuitive slider in the Nhost Dashboard, enabling easy horizontal scaling to handle increased traffic and ensuring smooth performance even during peak times or when a replica fails. This feature complements the recently launched Dedicated Compute and is particularly beneficial for real-time applications, offering faster response times and a seamless user experience. However, the platform currently does not support multiple replicas for Postgres due to its stateful nature, and users are encouraged to provide feedback on their needs. Future improvements include providing metrics for compute utilization and configuring replicas via a new config file, reinforcing Nhost's commitment to offering a scalable and flexible platform for application growth.
